A Step-By-Step Guide To Help You Create Your College Essay

Crafting the best college essay is the most stressful job any applicant can imagine, especially if you don't consider yourself a skillful writer. Luckily, so many students have been trough similar experience, and they can give you some advice. Follow simple rules while creating your college essay, and it will impress your future professors for sure.

  1. Brainstorming
  2. Now is the best time to selfishly think about yourself all the time - discover what are your personality traits that make you proud, and also be aware of your shortcomings. Try to express your positive side in clear, understandable sentences, but try to be realistic as much as you can.

  3. Draft
  4. After you have had some time to think about what makes you special, it's time to make your very first draft of the college essay paper. This will be far from perfect, and it's not suppose to even resemble the final paper that you will submit. Just write about all the things you were thinking about, and you consider relevant enough to be a part of your essay.

  5. Essay outlines
  6. Once you have plenty of ideas written down, it is time to form some kind of outline for your essay. Group your ideas and thoughts into three categories - the ones that will be a part of the introductions, and other that will form the body or the main part of the essay. Leave some clear and effective thoughts for the end, because writing the conclusion is the most important part of the essay.

  7. Write
  8. After all that preparation, you are ready to write your college essay. Don't bother too much if your essay seems confusing, full of errors or not good enough. Just write from your heart, and use all the ideas you have previously brainstormed.

  9. Be yourself
  10. Don't write like you want to impress someone, craft your essay as if you are writing a letter to yourself. Write honesty about what you think is special and great about personality, and also admit some flaws that you might have. Be creative and funny if that is what makes you different, don't be shy to show your true face - because that way you have a far greater chance of impressing someone.

  11. Proofread
  12. No matter how good your essay for college is, it won't be acceptable if it's full of typos and errors. Nothing will bother your future professors more than to see a great potential that is too lazy to correct their mistakes. So make sure to read your essay several times, and even ask a friend or family member to help you.
